L’objectif principal de cette thèse était de connaître le positionnement des médecins généralistes et des infirmiers qui travaillent en cabinets ou en EHPAD en Bretagne, sur la pratique d’une aide à mourir si elle est légalisée en France. Matériel et méthodes : Un questionnaire en ligne a été diffusé auprès des médecins généralistes et infirmiers, qui travaillent en libéral ou en EHPAD en Bretagne, du 8 octobre 2024 au 6 janvier 2025. Le questionnaire a été construit à partir de celui diffusé par la SFAP auprès des professionnels de soins palliatifs en 2023. Résultats : 131 infirmiers et 166 médecins ont répondu à cette enquête. Alors qu’une grande majorité des répondants sont d’accord pour accompagner le patient d’un point de vue administratif (recueillir sa volonté, l’orienter vers un professionnel qui pratique l’aide à mourir), environ la moitié sont en désaccord pour mettre en œuvre l’aide à mourir (prescrire, préparer, fournir et administrer le produit létal). Les infirmiers sont moins réticents que les médecins pour réaliser cet acte. Pour les participants, la légalisation de l’euthanasie seule est moins acceptable que la légalisation du suicide assisté seul ou avec l’euthanasie. Conclusion : Si l’aide à mourir est légalisée en France, les résultats de cette thèse interrogent sur la façon dont elle s’intégrera dans notre système de soins. Objective: In 2024, the French government proposed a bill that would establish the right to assisted dying. The main goal of this thesis was to understand the position of general practitioners and nurses working in private practices or nursing homes in Brittany regarding the practice of assisted dying, should it be legalized in France. Materials and Methods: An online questionnaire was distributed to general practitioners and nurses working in private practice or nursing homes in Brittany from October 8, 2024, to January 6, 2025. The questionnaire was based on one previously distributed by the SFAP (French Society for Palliative Care) to palliative care professionals in 2023. Results: A total of 131 nurses and 166 doctors responded to the survey. While a large majority of respondents agreed to support patients from an administrative perspective (gathering their wishes, directing them to a professional who performs assisted dying), about half disagreed with carrying out assisted dying (prescribing, preparing, providing, and administering the lethal substance). Nurses were less reluctant than doctors to perform this act. Participants found the legalization of euthanasia alone less acceptable than the legalization of assisted suicide alone or with euthanasia. Conclusion: If assisted dying is legalized in France, the results of this thesis raise questions about how it will be integrated into the healthcare system.
