     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Le Virus Respiratoire Syncytial (VRS) est l'une des principales causes de bronchiolite et d'hospitalisation chez les nourrissons dans le monde entier, imposant un lourd fardeau sur les nourrissons, leurs familles ainsi que sur les systèmes de santé. Jusqu'à récemment, une stratégie de prévention visant à protéger tous les nourrissons n’était pas disponible, la prise en charge de la maladie se concentrant principalement sur des soins symptomatiques. Au cours des dernières années, le paysage de la prévention contre le VRS a connu des percées significatives, avec l'émergence de stratégies innovantes destinées à protéger tous les nourrissons. Cette thèse se penche sur le VRS et les caractéristiques de la maladie, puis vise à partager un aperçu complet de la prise en charge du VRS avant 2023 et des développements attendus dans les années à venir. Enfin, cette thèse se concentre sur nirsevimab, un anticorps monoclonal, en parcourant son développement clinique, son implémentation dans les milieux de soins de santé, son efficacité pour prévenir les conséquences graves du VRS</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is one of the leading cause of bronchiolitis and hospitalization among infants worldwide, imposing a significant burden of disease on infants, healthcare systems and caregivers. Before 2023, effective prevention strategies for all infants against severe RSV disease were lacking, with management relying on supportive care to address symptoms. In recent years, the landscape of RSV disease prevention has witnessed significant breakthrough, with innovative strategies emerging to protect all infants. This thesis delves into RSV and RSV disease before providing a comprehensive overview of RSV disease management prior to 2023, and the anticipated developments in the coming years. Lastly, this thesis focuses on nirsevimab, a monoclonal antibody, examining its clinical development, implementation within healthcare settings, and its effectiveness to prevent severe RSV disease. It also highlights the challenges face for a worldwide implementation.</dcterms:abstract>
