     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Le travail de thèse porte sur le développement d’antennes à fort gain, légères et de faible profil pour des applications de type communications satellitaires pour des plateformes mobiles. Dans ce contexte, nous proposons l’utilisation d’antennes à métasurface (MTS), qui sont capable de fournir des gains élevés et d’offrir des capacités de reconfigurabilité dans la mise en forme et le pointage du faisceau d’antennes. Deux lignes de recherche principales caractérisent les résultats atteints dans cette thèse. La première porte sur l’étude de MTSs modulées rayonnantes, à travers lesquelles nous avons conçu deux prototypes d’antennes compactes à fort gain en bande K en polarisation linéaire ou circulaire. Ces deux modèles intègrent plusieurs sources et ont la capacité de balayer le faisceau en azimut et en élévation par commutation entre ports. La seconde ligne d’étude traite des formateurs de faisceau à base de MTSs. Dans ce cas, un nouveau type de lentille a été développé en collaboration avec l’université de Sienne ; la structure proposée surmonte les limitations présentées par d’autres dispositifs formateurs comme les lentilles de Luneburg planaires. En particulier, un nouveau concept de collimation en réflexion et à double couche est proposé ; il offre la possibilité de balayer le plan azimutal complet tout en conservant une grande compacité.</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">This thesis presents the developments of high-gain, low weight and low profile antennas for satellite communications on moving platforms. In this context, we propose the use of modulated metasurface (MTS) antennas, which are able to generate highdirective beams and offer beam-shaping and beam-pointing capabilities by a manageable control of the aperture fields. Two main research lines are explored in this PhD project. The first one deals with the design of radiating modulated MTSs and resulted in two high-directive compact multi-beam antennas that operate in the low K band. One of the models has linear polarization, whereas the other radiates a circularly-polarized beam. Both devices integrate several sources and own the capability of beam-scanning by beam-switching. The second line of study refers to the realization of beam-formers by MTSs. In this case, a new type of planar lens has been developed in collaboration with the University of Siena. This novel structure consists of two stacked circular parallel plate waveguides (PPWs). The rays generated by a point source in the bottom PPW are collimated in the topon e after being reflected by a metallic boundary. Hence, the behavior of this lens resembles that of a flat Luneburg lens, with the fundamental difference that it works in reflection. When used as a beam-former, it offers the possibility of total azimuthal scanning while keeping the compactness. Therefore, the proposed structure overcomes some significant limitations presented by other beam-forming devices, such as flat Luneburg lenses.</dcterms:abstract>
