     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="fr">Le travail de recherche concerne l’utilisation de catalyseur à base de métaux de transition, spécifiquement le cobalt et le ruthénium pour la transformation de substrats de types lignines et N-hétérocycles. Un certain nombre de catalyseurs de cobalt supportés par des ligands « pince » bi-fonctionnels ont été synthétisés et caractérisés dans le but d’effectuer la coupure de la lignine. Les résultats obtenus n’étant pas satisfaisant, nous nous sommes tournés vers l’hydrogénation de composés N-hétérocycliques et plus particulièrement de la quinoléine. Nous avons dans un premier temps converti la quinoléine en 1,2,3,4-tétrahydroquinoléine par la formation in situ de particules de cobalt. Dans un second temps, nous avons effectué l’hydrogénation diastéréosélective de la quinoléine en décahydroquinoléine en utilisant un catalyseur de ruthénium commercial, le ruthénium sur charbon. Suivant la température utilisée nous sommes capables de choisir la sélectivité entre le produit cis-decahydroquinoléine et le produit trans-decahydroquinoléine. Enfin, nous avons développé un catalyseur hétérogène de ruthénium capable d’effectuer l’hydrogénation stéréoselective de pyridines et de groupements aromatiques dans des conditions douces.</dcterms:abstract>
     <dcterms:abstract xml:lang="en">Research work involves the use of catalysts based on transition metals, specifically cobalt and ruthenium for the transformation of lignin and N-heterocycle substrates. A number of cobalt catalysts supported by bi-functional "pincer" ligands have been synthesized and characterized for redox-Neutral lignin cleavage. The results obtained were not satisfactory and we turned our attention to the hydrogenation of N-heterocycle compounds and in particular quinoline. We converted quinoline into 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinolein by the in situ formation of cobalt particles. In a second step, we performed the hydrogenation of quinoline into decahydroquinoline using a commercially available ruthenium catalyst, ruthenium on charcoal. Depending on the temperature used, we are able to switch the selectivity toward the cisdecahydroquinoline or the trans-decahydroquinoline products. Finally, we have developed a heterogeneous ruthenium catalyst capable of performing stereoselective hydrogenation of pyridines and arenes under mild conditions.</dcterms:abstract>
