Depuis plus de deux ans, les pharmaciens du Centre Eugène Marquis (CEM) réalisent des consultations pharmaceutiques pour les patients qui débutent un traitement de chimiothérapie par voie orale. A travers une enquête auprès des patients, un état de lieux de la consommation de TC a pu être fait. Les patients se tournent majoritairement vers la phytothérapie, l’homéopathie ainsi que les compléments alimentaires. L’aromathérapie semble moins attractive. La participation importante à cette enquête ainsi que les commentaires écrits ont montré l’intérêt des patients pour le thème d’actualité que représentent les traitements complémentaires. Face à la demande croissante d’information, plusieurs outils ont été mis en place au CEM et des projets restent encore à développer. En attendant plus de données validées, tant en termes d’efficacité que d’interactions médicamenteuses, le pharmacien doit rester prudent dans son conseil. Complementary treatments (CT) - phytotherapy, homeopathy, aromatherapy and all dietary supplements – are an integral part of the life of many patients followed for a cancer. For more than two years, pharmacists at the Eugène Marquis Center (EMC) have been offering pharmaceutical consultations for patients who are starting oral chemotherapy. Through a patient survey, an inventory of CT consumption could be made. The majority of patients turn to herbal medicine, homeopathy and dietary supplements. Aromatherapy seems less attractive. The important participation in this survey as well as the written comments showed the interest of the patients for the topical theme of complementary treatments. Faced with the growing demand for information, several tools have been put in place at the EMC and projects still need to be developed. While waiting for more validated data, both in terms of efficacy and drug interactions, the pharmacist must remain cautious in his advice.
