Jean-Claude Penrad)   ;     Description : A conference given by Yang Maolin, entitled “China’s urbanisation: Current situation and prospects”, was held on 26 September 2013. Yang Maolin is a historian, professor and vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Shanxi, who was invited by the UMR* China Korea Japan to develop topics for cooperation, and invited by UrbaChina to share his expertise on strategies for urbanisation in China. He studied at Peking University (1984-1987) and received his doctorate from Jilin University in 2007. He then spent a year as a visiting scholar at the University of Birmingham (1993-1994). His research focuses on history and culture, but also politics and public policy.
